The Great Outback Cattle Drive, South Australia

Baz Luhrman’s inspiration for Australia came after he joined a Great Australian Outback Cattle Drive in which hundreds of cattle are herded across the Outback in the style of the legendary cattle drives of old - but with luxury camping and quality South Australian food and wine at the end of each day on the trail. The next is scheduled to happen in 2010 (you can register for one of the 5 day tours which will operate between 23rd July and 4th September by simply contacting one of our consultants).

However if you can’t wait that long before saddling up, there is a great, three night 'Sunsets, Saddles & Shiraz' alternative itinerary which combines the romance of cattle droving with gourmet food and wine. native wildlife, and the stunning scenery of the Flinders Ranges. The package also includes a one night’s stay at the award-winning outback pub, the Prairie Hotel, renowned for its hospitality and speciality ‘feral food’ which includes kangaroo. emu and camel. It is great place to meet outback characters and the seven locals, the official town size.
